Strawberry Picking

Took the kids strawberry picking the other day 🙂

we love fresh strawberry’s

We love organic, non sprayed with harmful chemicals. we love ourselves and our children.  that’s one thing we really teach in our family… self love, eating organic and non processed foods as much as possible.

What other kind of berries do you like and love?

Where do you go, where are your favorite places to go berry picking?

When is the last time you and the family went out in nature to enjoy mother earth and the beauty it offers and picked the fruits with gratitude of her gifts?

Preparing for baby

With the arrival of baby #5 in 16 weeks, we are making lots of changes in our home.
Here’s what’s going on:

  • Added a laundry room: such a blessing this has been!
  • Cosmetic changes in the kitchen, adding bead board & painting
  • The boy’s are now in one room to make room for baby Olivia.
  • Improving the boy’s closet (I wish we would have taken before pics)
  • Improving the girl’s closet (will definitely take before and after pics)
  • Painting the living room
  • LOTS of reorganizing!!!

As the kids are getting older and they are consuming more food, I am having to make changes with food prep and shopping trips. I feel like we have finally crossed the bridge into “a large family”. I see that as a challenge. It’s fun!!

I am really wanting to replace my 4.5 qt KitchenAid mixer with the 7qt… comes with a pretty big price tag…so I will have to wait.

With all that being said, I hope to blog more than what I have been…but what I blog about will be about all kinds of things not just bento.
Merry Christmas from my kitchen to yours!!

Newspaper Wreath

Well, what do you think?

Is this something you can do with the kids or even the whole family?

That’s what we did for the last few years… its fun, the kids like it. the creativity and self expression is awesome too.

plus you can give them as a gift if you want to someone.

feel free to leave a comment below and let me know if you have done this before or plan to this year.

please also share this post with your friends and family on your social media platforms like facebook and twitter, ex.

Over the rainbow bento

The box: EasyLunchBoxes
In the box:

  •   Rainbow bread ham sandwich

I have been wanting to make rainbow bread for weeks. What a great sandwich for St Patty’s day. The kids are going to love it.

To make the bread, I used my regular whole wheat bread recipe, divided it into 4 sections and then added food coloring. Get more specific directions here:

My kids really like them.

Fat Fighting Mom said…Once you get enough bentos together you need to print them out in book form. I’m sure lots of people would buy them to keep on hand in the kitchen for ideas. My kids would flip over the pizzas.

For the applesauce, we just buy the individual cups and poke a straw through the top. Works perfectly and might be a cheaper alternative. That tip is on my list of future blog posts. 🙂

PB & J “Sushi” bento

The box: Gel-Cool
In the box:
  • Pb & j sushi roll on wheat bread
  • mini carrots
  • grapes
  • graham crackers
I really liked the way today lunch turned out! To me it’s just simply and very cute.
It’s been very busy for us lately (more so than usual)…I spent the weekend milking our new mama cow every 2 hours. She had mastitis and frequent milkings are the best remedy.  Today is Tex’s birthday & Bella has a Dr’s appointment. I must get to baking the birthday cake.
